Introduction Part II: What am I doing here?

This blog is the place where I share my tidbits on growing up and embracing adulthood. Nothing philosophical, just common sense (or maybe not) stuff. Why did I feel the need to do that? Well, I am surrounded by

twenty-somethings who are too busy stressing about their adult lives all the time. What bothers me is that very few of them sound happy about growing up.They talk about it like its a horrendous punishment and whoever takes one step forward on this treacherous road, like getting a job, making a difficult choice for their career, getting married, having a baby, is doomed for life. Not only do they find it hard to accept that some people can actually be choosing to do all these things happily, they also insist on slamming their negative thoughts on those genuinely enjoying the experience. It is almost like saying: "We want to sulk all the time, why should anyone else feel content?"

The Spice of Adulting thinks that growing up doesn't have to suck, the responsibilities that we dread often bring the biggest joys of our lives and adulting will only be as much fun as we make it. No matter how much our desi aunties insist, growing up doesn't have anything to do with staying single or getting married. It is being mature enough to understand what you truly want from life, what is best for you and what makes you happy. Staying single doesn't make one miserable and getting married does not have be the end of 'the good life'. Choosing not to have a baby does not call for pity and having a baby does not erase the word 'fun' from your life. The list could go on but you get the idea, right?

Just because all-nighters from college days are no more, doesn't mean life has to be boring :)

Check out Introduction Part I if you haven't already.
